“March To Glory” – Save the Date!
August 19-21, 2011

It is fall 1861 and ever since the firing on Fort Sumter, men from all states have been enlisting in either the confederate or Union Army. The overwhelming Southern victory at Manassas in July has spurred on these enlistments. Northerners want to avenge their defeat and Southerners want to repeat their victory. Those who have enlisted must now travel great distances to camps of instructions where they will learn how to be a soldier.

Follow along as a group of brave Southern men honor the 150 year anniversary of the Civil War by marching the 35 miles from Waxhaw to the Harrisburg Train Depot, where soldiers would have boarded the train for Camp Mangum in Raleigh. Along the way, marchers will camp overnight at the VFW in Indian Trail and the Carl J. McEwen Historic Village in Mint Hill. For more information contact Captain R. M. “Jack” Flagg at nct35th@yahoo.com
